I'm heading to the beach tomorrow for one last summer weekend. Next weekend is the beginning of football season, and for me, that means summer is officially over. I don't discuss much of my professional job on my blog, but in addition to blogging, I'm the art director for LSU Athletics. That means I'll be gearing up for lots of Saturdays spent on campus this fall, and I've got purple and gold on my brain right now. Strangely enough, I'm having a difficult time finding cute and temperature appropriate outfits! I'll be sharing a few more gameday outfits and ideas along the way for any tiger fans or just people who love purple. :)

I hope everyone is enjoying their last weekends of summer, but I'm excited to share with you what I'm planning for prefall already and NYFW - I am so so excited about the outfits I'm putting together right now and the events that I'm prepping for! Taking The Scuba Skirt Into Fall

Remember the pink scuba skirt from last week's post? It's gone from summery to more seasonly appropriate. Still great for the warm weather, but it now has a little prefall spin to it! I wanted to show you that it is truly possible to reuse colorful, summery pieces during these transitional months. Mixing in black and white hues and a strappy heel that's closer to a bootie will help you send off summer in style.

How cute is is this spotted swing top from Anthropologie? Turns out, a lot of people also liked it because it promptly sold out in this print. (However, an equally charming citron stripe pattern is still available and linked above OR check out the black and white heart print top with a similar silhouette in the shoppable widget below!) And of course ASOS never fails with it's superb selection of scuba skirts in all lengths and colors.

Hope you're enjoying the last of the summer outfit posts - next week starts the beginning of back-to-school inspired clothing!

Stay Matte and Protected w/ Colorescience

As you are probably well aware, football season is almost upon us. And with football season comes tailgating in the sweltering southern sun and the almost certain melting face, makeup effect. It's sort of ridiculous to continuously whip out a compact at a tailgate, so I've found something quicker and more protective. (Plus, caking on even more makeup on top of your shiny face is going to do a number on your pores!)

This is where Colorescience's Sunforgettable Mineral Sunscreen comes in. The mineral powder that comes packed with SPF will protect you from being out in the sun all day and comes in a discrete and easy-to-use brush. Available in SPF 30 or 50 and in 6 different shades, a few sweeps across your face is all you need to knock out both sun damage and sweaty makeup. Not to mention, as your makeup sweats off - IF you've applied normal sunscreen, it's also sweating off too. Reapplying some form of sun protection will be a must.

This powder sunscreen is easy to apply and reapply throughout the day to keep your skin protected and shine-free. Sunforgettable SPF highly refined mineral sunscreen provides safe, non-irritating, UVA and UVB sun protection. Sunforgettable also has these benefits:

• Easy to apply and re-apply loose mineral formula
• 80 minute water-resistant
• Safe for all ages
• Does not rub off on clothing
• Odor free, clear on the skin
• Will not irritate the eyes when perspiring
• Refillable

(This brush is also small enough to carry in your purse and into the stadium!)

* Also worth mentioning: Colorescience is now running a Buy 3, Get 1 Free + Free Shipping offer on Sunforgettable on their website. Stock up for yourself or your family!

Special thanks to Colorescience for sponsoring today's post and for helping me stay matte and shine-free on gameday!

Lovely Discoveries: Fall Jewelry Updates

Alyce necklace c/o Elaine Turner

Evil eye ring via Candy Apple / similar

Every season needs a little jewelry update, and in my case, I also needed a little, additional storage - especially for my rings. Glamboxes just added the cutest acrylic ring holders. They are available in the version you see above or one that is formed in a square. So chic and affordable - also makes for a thoughtful gift for you well-accessorized BFF!

As I've mentioned before, I am smitten with all of the lighter, dainter pieces in the Kendra Scott Glam Rocks collection. I went for necklaces in the new druzy and black iridescent stones that will be great for layering this season. The matching rings were also a must for me too! Again, these are limited edition, so once they're gone, they're gone! I'm really wishing that they'd keep these around though. I would love to get them in a few other colors too!

Other showstoppers are this C.Wonder initial jewelry box. This guy looks SO gorgeous in person and fit right in with my bedroom decor. Also, my Elaine Turner Alyce necklace has been a pretty big staple jewelry piece recently. It can be worn two different ways, so it was a great piece to pack for summer traveling. I'm looking to get more use out of the tortoise shell side for fall though!
