Target's Delightful New Collection

Friday, September 19, 2014

I'm interrupting the normally scheduled Friday Favorites sale post to instead post the cutest new Target collection by Wit & Delight blogger Kate Arends. I'm loving this blogger collaboration even more than the last because these are items I would actually keep in my house all year round - black and gold is all over our house. Above are a few of my favorites, but if you're wondering which ones I'll be picking up for myself - definitely the Half Full/Half Empty napkins, the pencil set, and pentagon candle sets. Check out the full collection on the Target website!

Fall Fashion with H&M + A Giveaway

silver pumps (old) / similar
bracelets: J.Crew / c/o Marlyn Schiff

I've teamed up with H&M today to celebrate their new fall fashion arrivals! The new collection features a utility meets feminine theme, so I chose a neutral palette with embellished details:

I started out by choosing a denim style first. I really wanted a skinny jean with a wash color that I do not already have and loved this gray tonal option in the super stretchy skinny. Because fall is all about layering and us Louisiana folks can't always revel in layering bliss, I chose to layer a sleeveless blouse over a jeweled shell top to achieve a layering effect that's perfect for our temps.

I wanted a patterned, flowy blouse to contrast the boxy jeweled top, and this sleeveless navy option was perfect. Both of these pieces can also be worn separately - I also plan to wear the shell top with a high-waisted, midi skirt and the sleeveless blouse underneath a structured blazer.

How can you get in on all of the H&M Fall Fashion fun? A $50 H&M gift card giveaway is going on right now on Instagram and you can win!

Skincare Gold with Orogold

"I'll try anything once, twice if I like it..."

That Mae West quote pretty much sums up my feelings about beauty products. Tell me it will give me better skin, and I'll at least give it a try, so I jumped at the chance to give the Orogold 24k Nano collection a shot. Now, I've only been using it for a week, so I can't speak on long-term benefits, but I can tell you what I'm thinking so far.

First of all, the product packaging (here comes the design nerd) is just gorgeous. It's a super-plus that the black and gold bottles look so pretty on my countertop. Each little bottle came packaged in it's own fabric lined box. (I felt kind of sad throwing those away.)

Each one of the products contains flecks of actual gold which I think is pretty cool or at least looks really cool. There is an interesting ingredients page on their website that summarizes Orogold's emphasis on using gold in their products. "Gold has a multitude of reputed benefits including slowing the depletion of collagen and elastin in the skin, reducing the appearance of damaged skin." Gold isn't the only luxury ingredient that is used, however; mother of pearl, diamond and cavier are also found in these indulgent products.

I've integrated this set of four products seen in the photos into my daily routine. My favorite one so far is the Ultra Silk Serum because it literally makes my face feel like silk before I go to sleep. This product like the other three works to restore skin's moisture, and I've actually noticed that my skin is definitely more hydrated since beginning their use. I chose this collection specifically for the moisture element. Here in the South, we have quite a bit of moisture in the hair - humidity - which is great for the skin but often results in the overproduction of facial oils. For this reason, I already use skincare products that target the bad oil left on my face from said humidity and makeup. But, I also want to replace those bad oils with healthy moisture while I sleep which is why I am trying out the Orogold 24k Nano collection. Dry skin is more prone to wrinkling than moisturized, nourished skin!

Like I said, I will have to update you on the long-term benefits of using these products, but so far so good! If you are interested or have any questions for me about my experience with Orogold, please email me at

Grown-Up Gingham

I had a set of meetings set up in Soho while I was in Manhattan, so when I found this Pixie Market dress, I knew it would be the perfect look. The gingham and smocking have all the makings of a toddler's playdate outfit, but I'd like to think of it as a grown-up version of just that. The sleeve flounce is what originally drew me to the dress, and I also like that the unique waist of the dress keeps the oversized top from swallowing you - instead the waistline is super flattering.

If you haven't yet heard of Pixie Market, it's one of my favorite secret sites - I shop here to find cool stuff that no one else has yet. You won't find anything on this online retail site anywhere else, and the styles are super unique and creative. It definitely pulls at my graphic designer side. Although some of the styles are kind out "out there," it's always a good time looking at it. OH and did I mention that the prices are super reasonable? Always a plus for me.

For some contrasting color, I wore my wine Gigi Madison crossbody bag. (Had it been night time, I would have thrown on a wine lipcolor to match!) The bib necklace is from Fab Finds Boutique - I'm loving the new coin bib trend - it's even got me throwing some silver pieces into my jewelry now.
